The Maxcost feature allows you to limit what you are willing to pay for an article. Our standard fee is $15.00, but a number of variables can affect the final fee you pay. Some fees, such as the delivery method chosen, are predictable. Others, such as page count (documents up to 50 pages in length are covered by the base fee, but pages over 50 are an additional 0.25 each) and copyright fees, may not be known at the time a request is placed.

Use the Maxcost feature available when setting up your account to control how much you pay for these additional fees.  If the fee for a request would exceed the amount indicated, you will be notified before the request is supplied.

Copyright law allows libraries to copy one chapter or paper from a single monograph or issue of a journal.  No subsequent request will be supplied unless cleared by paying the required copyright fee to the owner of the intellectual property. 

The Linda Hall loans some monographs in our collection. We do not loan journals, conferences, standards, microforms, government documents, technical reports, fragile books, or reference books.

No. The Linda Hall does not grant nor deny permission to use public domain digital content provided by our library. All public domain images digitized by The Linda Hall may be used under the provisions of this Creative Commons License.

Yes. The web-optimized public domain images on The Linda Hall’s website may be downloaded or copied; however, we request that you comply with our Image Rights and Reproduction Policy:

The Linda Hall makes available all existing digital images from its collection that are in the public domain to be used for any purpose under the terms of a Creative Commons License. The Library’s preferred credit line for all uses is:

The Linda Hall provides on request high-resolution digitized images of public domain material digitized for our website.  You may request a high-quality image through our catalog or contact us directly at digitalsupport@lindahall.org. 

A request for a single high-quality digital image will be filled within five working days.  Requests for multiple images may take longer.

No, if the publication is in scope, we may still hold it. Please contact our Reference Desk, and they will be happy to assist you with your search.

Yes. Let us know by email to requests@lindahall.org that you would like consolidated billing.

Each user must use the same organization name. Your organization will then receive invoices that consolidate your monthly requests and requests sent by all included users.

The Linda Hall is committed to processing all correctly submitted in-scope requests within 24 hours. However, if you need your request to be delivered faster we offer 3-hour rush and 1-hour urgent deliveries. Just indicate your preference when you submit your request.

You will be invoiced via email by our third-party processor, Versapay.

Our preferred payment method is credit card via Versapay or check payment mailed to the address listed on the invoice.

If you'd like to have your credit card processed manually, or you would like to set up an ACH or wire payment, please contact our Director of Accounting at moulinj@lindahall.org or 816.926.8741.

We reserve the right to charge a $20 processing fee for international wire transfers.
